Over 106 years ago, Steve Lauson’s great-grandfather set the wheels in motion—literally—for what would become Manitowoc County’s leading Ford dealership.

What began as a Ford distributorship saw him delivering iconic Model T vehicles from Detroit assembly plants to dealerships throughout greater Wisconsin. In 1937, he was offered the opportunity to open a franchise and chose Manitowoc over nearby Milwaukee—a decision that would shape generations to come.

In 1945, Steve Lauson’s grandfather returned home from World War II and took over the dealership, leading it until the 1970s before passing it on to his son. In 1982, the dealership moved across the street to its current location and began exclusively offering new Ford and Lincoln vehicles.

Then in 2008, Steve Lauson Jr. assumed leadership, continuing the legacy as a fourth-generation, family-owned business rooted in Manitowoc.

As a city with deep maritime history, Manitowoc has long been known as one of America’s great seafaring communities. Maritime Ford proudly honors that heritage and, for over a century, has been humbled to serve as the area’s trusted source for transportation on land.
